placebo

The dawn brings a ray of gold and another confirmation for Rock Werchter 2014. Placebo will perform on Thursday 3 July. Definitely there on the first day of the festival are Skrillex and Metallica. Arctic Monkeys and Major Lazer perform on Friday 4 July. On Saturday 5 July Werchter welcomes Pixies and Triggerfinger. And Franz Ferdinand are already confirmed for Sunday 6 July. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 2pm.

Placebo have made seven albums and come to Werchter for the seventh time this year. To perform ‘Loud Like Love’ (2013) no less. The ties couldn’t be closer. Placebo are literally and figuratively an international phenomenon. The band of three results from a reunion in 1994 between Swede Stefan Olsdal and Brussels-born American Scot, Brian Molko. The two were at school together in Luxemburg and bumped into each other on the London tube. They started the band Ashtray Heart, which was renamed Placebo a year later. Drummer Steve Forrest replaced Steve Hewitt in 2007. He was formerly with the Californian punk band, Evaline. Fortunately, the band’s sound is less complex that all this would suggest. For twenty years Placebo has given us what good rock should be: intense, seductive, humorous and slightly risqué.

Rock Werchter 2014 will be taking place from Thursday 3 July to Sunday 6 July. Over four days on the Festival grounds in Werchter (Belgium), you will be able to see music’s finest on three stages: Main Stage, KluB C and The Barn. At Rock Werchter we firmly believe in bringing together a mix of different genres, and that’s proved very popular. Last year’s four-day festival attracted some 140,000 (individual) festival-goers from far and wide and was completely sold out in advance. Rock Werchter is an international hit and has been awarded multiple prizes. In March of this year Rock Werchter won the prestigious ILMC Arthur Award for ‘Best Festival’ for the 5th time.
